ABA Therapy Center in St. George, UT
ABA Therapy
ABA Therapy refers to a type of intervention that uses the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis. ABA Therapy has a strong research basis as an effective treatment for children with autism. ABA services are recommended for children with autism by organizations such as the American Academy of Pediatrics. ABA Therapy generally involves treatment programs designed to improve communication, social skills, attention, self-help skills, play skills, emotional/behavioral regulation, problem solving, and educational skills. The treatment program is highly individualized for each child.
Your Source for Autism Support
At Autism Therapy Services, we provide a wide range of evidence-based behavior analysis therapy. We have options for therapy in home, clinic, school, and community settings. We have full day, part day, and weekly options. The exact therapies, hours, and locations are determined through individual assessment and family input.
Why Choose Autism Therapy Services
Individualized Therapy
We cater each program to your child’s individual strengths, abilities, and needs. We don’t simply plug children into a one size fits all ABA program. We will complete a detailed assessment and build a treatment plan to fit your child. Our assessments look at each child’s unique strengths, skills, challenges, and likes/dislikes. We then provide therapy in a compassionate, fun, creative environment. We are experienced in developing a program that is both highly effective and enjoyable at the same time.
Family Involvement
We know children improve most when the entire family is involved. We involve the family in all aspects of treatment. Parent input into assessment, treatment planning, and ongoing therapy is highly valued. Parents are encouraged to participate in therapy as much as possible. We also work to integrate siblings and other family members into home goals and therapy. We also provide as much training and support to parents as needed to help them feel confident and successful
Key Components of Applied Behavior Analysis Therapy
Initial assessment and treatment plan development
This is generally the first step after diagnosis. An ATS team member (BCBA) meets with the family and completes a structured assessment. This gives us beginning scores to track progress. With parent input goals are selected and a therapy schedule is developed.
First sessions
A staff member is assigned to a family and begins therapy. Initial therapy involves discovering what fun and interesting activities your child enjoys. The staff will work on developing rapport, finding the child’s likes and dislikes, and introducing the treatment plan. Our experienced and creative staff are great at introducing skill building in a fun and enjoyable way. Finding fun, naturalistic, and motivating activities (positive reinforcement) is an important component of good ABA Therapy.
Individual Therapy
Once therapy is in full swing the treatment plan is monitored weekly by our BCBA’s to insure steady progress. New goals and skills are introduced as needed. Goals typically include areas such as communication, social skills, emotional/social regulation, self-help, academics, sensory regulation, play skills, etc. As skills are mastered and new behaviors are learned new programs are continuously added. We love to see our kids growing and learning!
